JACKSON HEIGHTS — A cab's driver and his passenger were both charged with driving while intoxicated after mowing down a 35-year-old pedestrian and fleeing the scene Monday night, cops said.
Jagprit Singh, 27, was driving his yellow cab east on Northern Boulevard when he struck the pedestrian who was crossing at 82nd Street about 4:15 a.m., cops said.
Singh fled and at some point switched seats with his passenger, 25-year-old Irvin Valero, a police spokeswoman said.
The two were caught shortly afterward and both have been charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, she said.
Singh was also charged with vehicular assault and refusing to take a breathalyzer, she added.
The pedestrian was taken Elmhurst Hospital Center in serious, but stable condition, cops said.
