BAYCHESTER — One person was killed in a fire that tore through the first floor of a two story Bronx home early Wednesday morning, an FDNY spokesman said.

The fire began about 5:40 a.m. inside 3056 Fenton Ave., near East Gun Hill Road, and quickly engulfed the first floor, the spokesman said.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where they were pronounced dead, the spokesman said.

The fire was brought under control about 30 minutes later and is now under investigation.
