WAVECREST — A 7-year-old boy brought a gun to a Queens elementary school, prompting the building to go on lockdown Thursday morning, officials said.

The unidentified second-grader was carrying the .22-caliber handgun in his backpack when he showed up to the Wave Preparatory School at 535 Briar Place, near Collier Avenue, NYPD and Department of Education officials said.

About 10 a.m., a school safety agent confiscated the weapon. No one was injured, police said.

The boy was not threatening anyone with the gun, authorities said.

Police also recovered an orange flare gun from another student's backpack, cops said. Authorities believe the 7-year-old boy carrying the other gun gave it to the other student.

It was unclear how the boy got his hands on the guns or to whom they belonged, police said.

The NYPD was investigating the incident.
