Cops Hunt Gunman Who Allegedly Shot Man in Bronx Bodega

By Aidan Gardiner | January 14, 2013 8:19am

WILLIAMSBRIDGE — Cops are looking for a gunman they say shot a 21-year-old man in a Bronxwood Avenue bodega over the weekend.

The suspect entered the store, located at 3846 Bronxwood Ave. near East 221st Street, Sunday about 11:30 a.m., according to the NYPD. That's when he blasted the victim in the left side of his face, cops said.

The unidentified victim was taken to Montefiore Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, cops said.

His injuries aren't life-threatening, officials said.

The gunman fled east toward East 221st Street, cops said.

He's described as being in his 20s, about 5-foot-9-inches tall, a thin-to-medium build, and was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants and black sneakers.

It's unclear what prompted the shooting, cops said, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident should submit a tip at NYPD Crime Stoppers or call 800-577-TIPS.
