ROCKAWAY BEACH — A woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds to her neck in Rockaway Beach, police said Wednesday.

Karla Shah Boguwalski, 39, was found in the bathroom of a second-floor apartment at 65-27 Seaspray Ave., near Beach 67th Street, at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

"I was shocked about what happened," said a neighbor who met the woman shortly after she moved into the apartment with her husband two months ago. "She's a sweet girl with a beautiful smile.

"A good karma, I thought."

Police said Shah Boguwalski, who worked as an ESL instructor for the Beacon program at P.S. 43, was already dead when they arrived at the address.

Relatives said she had disappeared recently, but no missing persons report had been filed, a police source said.

No one had been arrested by Wednesday afternoon.

The Department of Education said in a statement that it would "work with the school to provide counseling and support during this difficult time."
