Stabbing Suspect Told Family 'Everyone is Going to Die,' DA Says

By Dan Rivoli | August 29, 2012 1:32pm

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — The 22-year-old man accused of stabbing his mother and brother tried to burn his family alive inside their Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment and warned them, "everyone is going to die," court records show.

Jormile Wint allegedly stabbed his 40-year-old mother and 19-year-old brother inside their apartment at 419 Chauncey St. near Saratoga Avenue, then ordered his mom and 8-year-old sister to lay on the ground as he set some paper towels on fire with a lighter and dropped them on the wood floor in an attempt to set the apartment ablaze, the criminal complaint said.

Wint is expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon on felony charges including attempted murder, assault, arson, menacing, harassment, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a weapon, the complaint said.

Wint allegedly went on a rampage at approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, stabbing his mother, Angela, in the neck with a kitchen knife because he thought she was calling the cops on him, police sources said.

Angela Wint lost feeling in her legs as a result of her wounds, according to the criminal complaint.

When his brother Kevin attempted to stop the attack, Wint punched him in the face and then stabbed him in the face, hands, legs and shoulder, the complaint added.

Angela was taken to Kings County Hospital and Kevin was transported to Brookdale University Hospital. Both were in stable condition as of Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Manuel Peralte, 47, owner of the apartment where the victims lived, said the attack was the first time an incident like a stabbing occurred.

"There's blood everywhere up there," Peralte said.
