BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man stabbed his mother and brother and then tried to burn down their bloodied Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment Tuesday morning, police said.

Jormile Wint, 22, turned on his 40-year-old mother first, stabbing her in the back with a kitchen knife about 10:30 a.m. inside their apartment at 419 Chauncey St. near Saratoga Avenue, police said.

Wint's 19-year-old brother intervened to try to stop him, so Wint stabbed his brother in the head, back and hand, an NYPD spokesman said.

Wint then tried, unsuccessfully, to set the apartment on fire, the NYPD spokesman said.

Wint's mother was taken to Kings County Hospital and his brother was taken to Brookdale University Hospital. Both were in stable condition, police said.

Police arrested Wint and charged him with assault, possession of a weapon, harassment and arson, the NYPD said.

A neighbor, who declined to be identified, said he heard the family in the apartment fighting the night before the attack.

"They were going at it pretty bad," the neighbor said.

Manuel Peralte, 47, who owns the apartment where the victims lived, said the attack was the first time an incident like a stabbing occurred.

"There's blood everywhere up there," Peralte said.
