THE BRONX — A veteran officer of the NYPD and daughter of a high-ranking state official was arrested Saturday for allegedly vandalizing her boyfriend's car, according to news reports.
Sgt. Damaris Diaz, who was off-duty but works at the Police Academy, according to the NY Daily News, was arrested Saturday morning and charged with aggravated harrassment and criminal mischief, police said.
Diaz, 43, who is the sister of Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., had repeatedly called and texted her cop boyfriend Edward Velasquez, leaving hostile messages, the News reported.
Then she keyed the paint job on his 2005 Honda Accord, the paper said.
Calls to Senator Diaz's office were not returned immediately Sunday.
