Wafels & Dinges to Make Regular Stops in Forest Hills

By Nigel Chiwaya | July 31, 2012 10:35am

FOREST HILLS — Sunday breakfast just got more exciting in Forest Hills, with the popular food truck Wafels & Dinges beginning to make regular stops in the neighborhood.

The food truck, which serves up Belgian waffles with toppings such as ice cream, chocolate syrup, pulled pork and bacon, made its first stop in the neighborhood on July 22, dishing out treats on 71st Avenue between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard to surprised and elated customers.

Now they're looking to stick around, with plans to make their 71st Avenue stop a weekly occurrence.

"That's the plan. As long as people welcome us in their neighborhood," the truck tweeted.

Wafel & Dinges' distinctive yellow trucks are a fixture in Manhattan and Brooklyn, with customers forming lines almost from the moment the company tweets out its daily location.

The excitement has been palpable on Twitter, where users have been tweeting and retweeting about their newest culinary option in a neighborhood where food truck options are largely limited to the Yogo Frozen Yogurt truck.

"How surprised I was to see @waffletruck parked across the street from where I work today in Forest Hills. Awesome, guys!" tweeted user Geekyred on July 22.

Another user, tinyrissa, tweeted "so excited! my favorite @waffletruck is going to be in my neighborhood tomorrow! yay for #ForestHills" before the truck made its second appearance on July 29.
