BRONX — A high-speed pursuit turned deadly early Monday when a driver fleeing New Rochelle police slammed his vehicle into a row of parked cars in the Eastchester section of The Bronx, police said.
The vehicle's passenger, 20, died at the scene, the NYPD reported.
The driver was transported by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in Morris Park and was in stable condition. Neither person's identity was released.
Initial reports from police stated that it was the driver who had died.
The men were speeding south on Givan Avenue in a Nissan Maxima sedan, police said, when they collided with the parked cars near the Palmer Avenue intersection at about 5:20 a.m., police said.
A New Rochelle Police Department sergeant confirmed that there was a pursuit and accident but declined to provide further details.
