MANHATTAN — An Upper West Side man was convicted Monday of nearly decapitating his father in a brutal 2010 murder.

Julian Kurita, 33, murdered his father, Fumitaka "Frank" Kurita, 70, in July 2010 their West 87th Street apartment before slashing his own wrists and then calling 911 to report the crime, prosecutors said. He faces life in prison when he's sentenced on July 10.

During pretrial hearings, cops who responded to the scene said that Kurita told them that his father "deserved it," and added that he was abused by his father as a child.

"He used to f--k me up when I was kid, and he used to try to rape me and I was abused," Kurita told police.

Defense attorney Norman Williams tried to mount an insanity defense, but Kurita was overheard telling emergency workers at the scene that he'd been off his psychiatric medication due to insurance problems, according to testimony heard at trial.
