A man biking westbound along Roosevelt Avenue was struck and killed on Friday, police said.

The victim, who has not yet been identified by police, was biking in the area near Citifield at 5:45 p.m., near 126th Street in Corona.

Police said the victim, identified only as a man in his 40s, was bicycling in the same direction of a westbound 2003 grey Nissan Altima sedan.

The driver, a 50-year-old woman, was just west of 126th Street her vehicle collided with the cyclist, police said.

The unidentified victim had just merged into the lane in front of the vehicle, when the Altima struck the victim. The man's head hit the windshield, and police found the victim lying on the ground with severe head trauma.

Emergency Medical Services declared the cyclist dead on arrival, and police said the driver of the Nissan Altima stayed on the scene. No criminality was suspected.

The victim's family has not yet been notified at press time, police said.
