MANHATTAN — Longtime Giants running back Brandon Jacobs is headed West.
The hulking runner, who helped Big Blue nab two Super Bowl titles during seven seasons with New York, agreed to a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers Wednesday, ESPN.com reported.
Jacobs, 29, was released by the Giants earlier this month joins fellow former Giant and Super Bowl hero Mario Manningham, who also just signed with San Francisco.
The 6-foot-4 Jacobs, 265 pound back posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2007 and 2008, including a career-high 15 touchdowns in 2008.
However, he saw his carries reduced in recent years with the emergence of running back Ahmad Bradshaw, and reportedly expressed frustration with his role on the team last year.
