MANHATTAN — Another Super Bowl hero bites the dust.

Giants wide receiver Mario Manningham, who made a spectacular grab in Super Bowl XLVI last month, is ditching New York for sunny California, according to published reports.

Manningham, who brought down a 38-yard pass from quarterback Eli Manning with just minutes to go in the fourth quarter of the big game, inked a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, ESPN.com said.

The Giants went on to beat the Patriots 21-17.

Manningham, a 25-year-old free agent, was part of a power receiving core including Hakeem Nicks and breakout star VIctor Cruz, but was not used nearly as much as the other two.

Number 82, dubbed "Super" Mario, will join Randy Moss and Michael Crabtree on the 49ers — the team the Giants beat in the NFC Championship game.

He has amassed more than 2,000 yards with the Giants during his four seasons with the team.

In 2009, the Giants cut hero wide receiver David Tyree, who made a breathtaking catch in Super Bowl XLII to help propel the team to its first big game victory since 1991.
