MANHATTAN — A woman jumped to her death from the George Washington Bridge Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
A witness saw the unidentified woman driving a black SUV on the bridge’s westbound lane shortly before 2 p.m. when she pulled over behind construction cones on the span’s upper level, Port Authority police said.
The woman then exited the car with her purse in hand and jumped over the railing, PA police added.
Her body was recovered in the Hudson River by harbor patrol units south of the bridge about 2:30 p.m. and brought to the 125th Street pier in Harlem, police said.
An investigation is ongoing, the Port Authority added.
