Jeremy Lin Gets Viral Video Valentine From New York Crush

By Matt Draper | February 14, 2012 5:11pm

MANHATTAN — It’s Va-Lin-tine’s Day in New York.

In the latest episode of the city’s obsession with surprising Knicks star Jeremy Lin, a Big Apple woman posted a video on YouTube showing her playing a Valentine's Day song for her hardcourt crush.

The clip, "Jeremy Lin, Be My 'Valentine'! =)" was posted Sunday by user Grace Lin and has been viewed nearly 1,900 times. The southpaw songtress strums the guitar while showcasing  impressive vocals in her tribute to the emergent Knicks talent.

"This makes me feel super shy but I want to say a few things to Jeremy in case he ever gets to watch this ;) ," she wrote of the clip, describing herself as a Taiwanese-Canadian hockey fan, who moved to New York four years ago.

"Haha it's pretty amazing that you've now got me into Knicks basketball in a 'Lincredible' way."

The track is a cover of Kina Grannis' "Valentine" featuring, among other lyrics, "I don't need no rings" — something most Knicks fans can relate to, as the team hasn't won an NBA title since 1973.

Grace Lin added in her note that she became "a HUGE fan" of the Harvard grad after hearing about him a few years ago, and lauded the player for his commitment to Christianity.

"As amazing as your play is on the court, I am even more impressed by how you continue to stay so humble, recognizing your teammates' contributions, giving God all the thanks and glory," she wrote, adding this was first time taking to YouTube.

"It must be so tough being under the spotlight in the midst of #LINSANITY..."

Lin and the rest of the Knicks will spend Valentine's Day in Toronto as they go for their sixth-staight win on Tuesday.
