MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A bipolar Nevada man who claims he lives in a Hawaiian volcano and has been forced to stalk Ivanka Trump by aliens was brought to New York to face charges he continued to stalk her even after a court ordered him to stop.
Alleged stalker Justin Massler, 28, was rearrested and extradited after missing several court dates on older charges of stalking Trump. He is now accused of violating orders of protection against Trump and various members of her family. A judge ordered a psychiatric fitness exam of the alleged stalker during Tuesday's proceedings.
"I should stop bothering her but I like her," Massler allegedly told authorities last year.
Massler faces four counts of criminal contempt in addition to the stalking and harassment charges. He was ordered held without bail.
He allegedly sent a barrage of obsessive notes, letters and tweets to Trump, her husband Jared Kushner and their families, declaring his love for the beautiful daughter of the famous billionaire and claiming he would stop at nothing to be with her.
When asked to enter a plea during his indictment on Tuesday, the long-haired former prep school student paused. "Ahh, not guilty," Massler finally said.
On Feb. 10, under the YouTube handle "FugitiveStalker," Massler posted a rambling video in which he claims he's homeless and that his mind has been taken over by alien forces.
"I don't feel like I should be a jail or in a psych ward simply because what, some sort of like aliens made me do," Massler said on a rambling video.
"If I'm being mind controlled by aliens...it's kind of like a coercion issue," he said, adding, "They really don't consider the alien defense in court which is another issue...My whole life is ruined really because of aliens...My whole life is s**t really because of aliens."
His lawyer, George Vomvolakis, said Massler is intelligent but is suffering from various mental issues. He said he would consider requesting options other than jail for him, including a possible referral to the new Manhattan Mental Health court.
Massler has professed his love for the Trump heiress, who is pregnant with her first child. Kushner, her husband, is the owner of the New York Observer and a real estate tycoon.
He was returned to New York on a bench warrant Tuesday after missing court appearances in recent months, claiming he could not afford the trip.
He is scheduled to reappear in court May 12.
