MANHATTAN — For the first time, the parents of slain fashion designer Sylvie Cachay will come face-to-face with the man accused of strangling and drowning their daughter in a bathtub at the Soho House in December, the New York Post reported.

Antonio and Sylvia Cachay plan to attend the 12:30 p.m. Tuesday court appearance of Sylvie's boyfriend Nicholas Brooks, 25, who prosecutors say fought with the designer before leaving her dead in an overflowing bathtub, the paper reported.

It will be the first time Sylvie Cachay's parents have been to court the family's lawyer told the paper.

"They want to look him in the eye," family lawyer Susan Karten told the Post.

Brooks has pleaded not guilty to the second-degree murder charges and has said Cachay was sleeping when he left the hotel room for the evening.

Nicholas Brooks is the son of Joseph Brooks; the composer of the 70s hit "You Light Up My Life."

The elder Brooks faces charges he sexually abused young women that he allegedly lured to his apartment for auditions.
