MANHATTAN — Knicks fans might want Carmelo Anthony to come to New York, but coach Mike D'Antoni wants them to keep quiet about it.
D'Antoni said fans chants of "We Want Mel-o" during Wednesday night's 116-108 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers was distracting to the team.
"It's not good,'' D'Antoni told reporters Thursday, ESPN reported. "There's no doubt about it. It affects some of the players, without a doubt.''
With the NBA trade deadline coming up Feb. 24, D'Antoni worried that distraction wasn't going away anytime soon.
"It’s a fear,'' D'Antoni said, according to the New York Post. "But it's also part of the business, but it is a fear."

Fans began chanting "We Want Mel-o" late in the third quarter of Wednesday night's game, ESPN reported.
The Knicks have reportedly been in talks with the Denver Nuggets to work out a deal that would bring Anthony to New York.
D'Antoni hadn't directly addressed the Anthony trade rumors before Thursday, the Post said.
