MANHATTAN — Knicks fans had Carmelo Anthony on their minds even as Amar'e Stoudemire scored a 41 points in New York's 117-105 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

ESPN's Chris Broussard reported Saturday that the Knicks, Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves were in trade talks that would land the All-Star forward in Manhattan.

The deal would send Anthony to New York, with Wilson Chandler going back to the Nuggets. The Knicks would also send forward Anthony Randolph and center Eddy Curry's expiring contract to the Timberwolves who would send guard Corey Brewer and a 2011 first round draft pick to the Nuggets, according to ESPN.com.

Knicks GM Donnie Walsh didn't give much creedence to the report Sunday, but acknowledged the their had been some communication with the Nuggets.

"I don’t think we have anything going, but at least we’re getting a feeling of possibilities, let’s put it that way," Walsh told the Associated Press.

Stoudemire shot 17-for-21 from the floor on Sunday to match his season high in points. Rookie Landry Fields scored a career-high 25 points and added 10 rebounds.

Chandler scored 12 points on Sunday and is averaging a career-highs of 16.5 points, 6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks a game this season. The 23-year-old forward could be in line for a big raise in the offseason when he becomes a restricted free agent if the Knicks don't trade him away.

Randolph has spent most of the season on the bench for New York, appearing in just 16 games. However, the 21-year-old forward is 7-feet tall and has shown flashes of talent since Golden State made him a lottery pick in the 2008 draft.

While the teams may be talking, Walsh didn't want Knicks fans to get to hopeful about landing Anthony just yet.

"If you get something that will help your team, then you get excited. It hasn't come to the point I'm excited," Walsh told the Daily News.
