MANHATTAN —The New York Giants' last ditch effort to make the playoffs sees them clash with the Redskins Sunday — and has them praying for some help from the Chicago Bears.
Two things need to happen Sunday for the G-Men to extend their season. They need to beat the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field at 4:15 p.m., and the Chicago Bears have to beat the Packers on Green Bay's home turf. The Bears-Packers game also starts at 4:15 p.m.
The Giants have had a tough go of it late in the season. On Dec. 19, they suffered an epic collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles, blowing a 21-point lead with only eight minutes left in the game.
A week later, they put their playoff hopes further in doubt after a 45-17 loss to the Packers.
But according to Giants safety Antrel Rolle, if things go their way on Sunday, the G-Men can wipe the slate clean.
"If we happen to squeak into the playoffs, I know we will be a different football team once that playoff run comes," Rolle said, according to the New York Post.
