MANHATTAN — From Mariah Carey's baby bump to Charlie Sheen's drug-fuled romp with a prostitute at The Plaza, celebrities gave the city's papers plenty of hook ups, dust ups and babies to write about in 2010.

The most talked about celebrity event in New York was Chelsea Clinton's fairy-tale wedding.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house — even former President Bill Clinton shed some tears — when 30-year-old Chelsea walked down the aisle and wed longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, 32, in Rhinebeck, N.Y. on July 31.

"It hit all the right marks. It was perfect," a guest told the Daily News.

Meanwhile, in the music world, New York-born singer and songwriter Alicia  Keys wed record producer Swizz Beat on the French island of Corsica on July 31. The Grammy-award winner topped off the year with a new addition to her family — she gave birth to son Egypt Duade Dean in October.

Keys wasn't the only New York musician with baby fever. Pop superstar Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon announced they were expecting a baby of their own, back in October. In December, Cannon upped the ante when he announced on a radio show in New York that the couple was expecting twins in the spring.

And in October, US Weekly reported that Jay-Z and Beyonce were expecting a baby. The next day Beyonce's mom denied the report. Neither superstar publicly confirmed the report, leaving New Yorkers in a confused state of mind.

Not all the celebrity activity in 2010 was on the up-and-up.

Tiger Woods' sex scandal hit home when it was revealed that one of his bevy of babes was Park Avenue resident Rachel Uchitel. Uchitel tried to cash in on her 15 minutes of fame in October when she attempted to rent her New York City pad for $1.6 million.

And who could forget Charlie Sheen? The "Two and a Half Men" star was hospitalized after allegedly trashing the Plaza Hotel during a drunken rage while on a date with an alleged hooker. Just another weeknight in the life of the troubled actor.  The damage to the Plaza's room totalled more than $7,000 and led to several unflattering stories about Sheen.

However, not everyone seemed to mind the actor's bizarre outburst.

"I think it's enhanced [our trip]," Canadian tourist Sherri Lepitzki told DNAinfo outside the Plaza Hotel. Nothing like a tourist's two cents to put the bad behavior of New York celebrities into perspective.
