MANHATTAN — Jay-Z has 99 problems and "Fela, Fela: This B**ch of a Life" is one of them.

Carlos Moore, the author of the aforementioned title, an authorized biography about the Nigerian Afro-beat music legend and political activist Fela Kuti, is suing Jay-Z's Tony award-winning Broadway musical "FELA!," according to several reports.

Moore's $5 million copyright lawsuit, which was filed in Manhattan federal court on Monday, says the author turned down $4,000 from "FELA!" producers for the rights to his book and wanted "an advance and participation in the royalty pool," but "no further offer was ever made," reported the New York Post.

The suit accuses playwright Jim Lewis and director Bill T. Jones of using the book to develop the musical without Moore's consent, according to the paper.

Moore is suing for more than $5 million in damages, according to the Associated Press.
