MANHATTAN — The Knicks quest for their second win of the season was delayed after the team postponed their Tuesday night game against the Orlando Magic for asbestos concerns.
"Asbestos-related materials" kept in an attic above the ceiling of Madison Square Garden fell into the arena after maintenance work done following Monday night's Rangers game, Garden officials said.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we are postponing tonight's Knicks v. Magic game," the team announced on their website. "As the safety of our customers and employees are our top priority, we will not reopen the Garden until we are absolutely assured the Arena is safe."
Ticketholders are advised to retain their tickets, and return to nyknicks.com for rescheduling information.
With a new-look team featuring the star power forward Amar'e Stoudemire, the Knicks are looking to end nine years of embarassment. So far, the team has a losing record of 1-2.
