MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — A woman was indicted on charges that she burglarized downtown shops while dressed as a cat, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Alleged "cat woman" burglar Shanna Spalding, 28, appeared in court Tuesday for the announcement of her indictment by a grand jury. The exact charges against her will remain sealed until Sept. 21.

Spalding allegedly robbed a store on Greene Street and another on Astor Place as well as several in Queens while dressed like "Cat Woman" from the Batman series.

"Give me your money. I have a gun," she allegedly wrote on a note that she handed to a clerk at an Astor Place shoe store.

Her lawyer, Stuart Singer, has asked for her to be placed in protective custody in court on Tuesday because he is "concerned about her safety," he said outside the courtroom.

Spalding is being held in jail at a Riker's Island women's ward on $75,000 bail.
