MANHATTAN -- The New York Knicks are at the top of the list for point guard Chris Paul, who is demanding a trade from the downward-spiraling New Orleans Hornets, according to news reports.
The three-time All-Star wants to be on a championship caliber team, CBSsports.com reported, which means being traded before the start of the 2010-11 season.
Paul reportedly met with new Knick Amar'e Stoudemire and Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony in New York earlier this month to discuss setting up a dream team to take on the Miami Heat's superstar trio of LeBron James, Dwyne Wade and Chris Bosh.
"Those guys have been where I want to get to," Paul said earlier this year according to CBSsports.com. "This is my fifth year in the league and I'm not trying to wait until I'm an old veteran in this league trying to win a championship."
A source close to Paul told CBSsports.com that the player wanted to leave New Orleans. "He wants to follow LeBron's model of teaming up with other great players," the source said
Other options for Paul reportedly include Orlando Magic, the Dallas Mavericks and the Portland Trail Blazers.
