MIDTOWN EAST — A sexagenarian sporting breathing tubes tried to hold up a Midtown store with a silver revolver last Friday before taking off in an old Cadillac, police and store employees said.

No one was injured but several suits were irreparably damaged in the attempted heist.

Employees at Sarar, a Turkish menswear store on Madison Avenue and 46th Street, were nearing their 8 p.m. closing time when a man in his 60's entered the store, police said.

The sexagenarian had what appeared to be breathing tubes descending from his nose, an employee who was off duty at the time heard from co-workers.

But it wasn't long before the man pulled out a silver revolver, demanding money from a salesperson who'd offered to assist him, police said.

Sarar employees said this dent was left by a bullet after a man in his 60's shot up the Turkish menswear store last Friday.

When the salesperson did not immediately comply, the thief fired a shot in his direction, according to the NYPD.

The salesperson then attempted to flee the store, but the robber shot at him again, police said.

None of the bullets hit the worker, described by another worker as the store manager, but one of them did pierce a row of seven suits.

The gunman escaped, empty-handed, in what was described as a "dark-colored sedan" by police and as a "black Cadillac…[with] Alabama plates" by employees.

Later, the manager, who managed to avoid the gunshots, was more worried for the store's inventory than for his own well-being, the store employee claimed.

"All of my 42 men's wides are ruined!" he complained, according to the clerk.
