MANHATTAN — The ex-wife of notorious drug kingpin Frank Lucas, who was played by Denzel Washington in "American Gangster," was busted for allegedly selling cocaine in Puerto Rico, several news outlets said.

Julianna Farrait-Rodriguez, 63, was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly trying to sell two kilos of cocaine to a government official in Puerto Rico for $60,000, the New York Post reported.

"Like in the movie the 'American Gangster' Frank Lucas was known to have made millions of dollars peddling heroin throughout the streets of New York City," said DEA Special Agent in Charge John Gilbride, the Daily News reported. "Well, his wife has taken up his role by trying to sell two kilograms of cocaine in Puerto Rico with the goal of sending them to be sold on the New York City streets."

Farrait-Rodriguez was reportedly under investigation since at least February 2009 when she tried to sell another informant cocaine from an Atlanta supplier, the Post reported.

The character "Eva," played by Lymari Nadal in Ridley Scott's 2007 film "American Gangster," was based on Farrait-Rodriguez.

Lucas built a massive drug operation in Harlem before being busted by the NYPD in 1975.

Farrait-Rodriguez was arrested along with Lucas and spent five years in prison, according to the paper.
