MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT — Hollywood scion Cameron Douglas was sentenced to five years in federal prison on Tuesday after a drug conviction for selling large amounts of methamphetamines and cocaine.
Douglas, 31, asked a judge for leniency as his father, actor Michael Douglas, and mother, Diandra, looked on.
"First, I'd like to apologize to my family...for my behavior...I'd like to ask you for the opportunity to be a productive family member and a good role model," Cameron Douglas said, according to a New York Post report.
The grandson of legendary actor Kirk Douglas — and stepson of Catherine Zeta-Jones — faced a maximum sentence of ten years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing large amounts of drugs in January.

A judge received dozens of letters from friends and family members describing Douglas' long struggle with drug addiction and asking for sympathy.
"I made a lot of mistakes. ... I believe your honor that things will be different this time because I feel I have the full support of my family and my parents," Douglas reportedly told the judge.
