MANHATTAN – Chelsea Clinton is engaged to her long-time boyfriend, Wall Street investment banker, Marc Mezvinsky.
The Manhattan power couple announced the news in an e-mail to friends on Friday, according to ABC News.
“We also wanted to share that we are engaged,” the couple said in the e-mail. “We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us.”
Rumors swirled this past summer that the daughter of the former President and current secretary of state had already married her beau.
Matt McKenna, a spokesman for the former president, confirmed the engagement Monday, according to the AP.
The pair said they plan to wed next summer.
Clinton, 29, reportedly lives in Gramercy and is currently studying at Columbia University's School of Public Health.
Mezvinsky works for Goldman Sachs. His parents are former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky.
The couple both have in common fathers who were embroiled in scandal. President Clinton, famously, was impeached. And Rep. Mezvinsky was charged with bank and wire fraud in 2002.
The couple met as high school students in Washington and grew close when they studied at Stanford University.
