Patty Wetli

Reporter/Producer @Pattydnachicago Contact

Patty Wetli is a reporter/producer covering Lincoln Square, North Center, Roscoe Village, Irving Park and Albany Park. A lifelong Midwesterner and Ohio transplant (Go Buckeyes!), she moved to Chicago to attend graduate school at Northwestern University, where she received a master’s degree in English while working full-time as a reporter/editor for a trade magazine that covered the telecom market.

After a detour into marketing communications for the Chicago Tribune, she dove into creative writing and completed a certificate program through the University of Chicago. Her work has been published in The Rumpus, Brevity and the Front Porch Journal, and she also contributes reviews to Booklist.

Patty has lived in Lincoln Square since 2001. She spent the past two years reporting on the neighborhood and surrounding area for the Center Square and Roscoe View Journals.

Fun Fact: Patty entered the Pillsbury Bake-Off with a recipe for Crescent Cookies – Pillsbury crescent rolls stuffed with Pillsbury cookie dough drizzled with Smucker’s ice cream topping. Shockingly, this did not earn her the million-dollar top prize.
