Daniel Boulud is a French chef and restaurateur with several restaurants in New York City. He's best known for his restaurant Daniel in the Upper East Side, which received a 3-star Michelin rating.

Boulud was born in France on March 25, 1955. He was raised on a farm, but was taught by renowned French chefs outside of Lyon. When Boulud was 15 he received his first professional recognition as a finalist for Best Culinary Apprentice in France.

Boulud left France and headed to the Big Apple in 1993. That year he opened up his first restaurant Daniel in the Upper East Side and later relocated it to Park Avenue and 65th Street in 1998. Boulud opened a French Bistro called Bar Boulud across from Lincoln Center in 2008.

Boulud is involved in several different charities that focus on hunger relief and culinary education in New York. He is an active member of Citymeals-on-Wheels and is also a part of the board. Joel Smilow, Boulud’s business partner created the Daniel Boulud Scholarship Endowment Fund to help young Americans to continue their professional culinary studies in France.

Boulud has several more restaurants outside of Manhattan. He has two restaurants in Palm Beach, Fla. called DB Bistro Moderne and Café Boulud. He launched the Daniel Boulud Brasserie in the Wynn casino in Las Vegas in 2005.  Boulud also has restaurants in Canada, London and China.
