Tom Liddy

News Editor @tcliddy Contact

Tom Liddy is a news editor at DNAinfo.com New York who manages coverage of Queens and writes the "Make This Tonight" cooking column.

He spent seven years at the New York Post, where he was most recently an associate metro editor in charge of Long Island. But he also dabbled in just about everything else.

Tom started his run at The Post in 2004 as a copy kid, getting coffee and answering phones, but he quickly worked his way into the reporting world and got hooked.

Over the years, he did a stint at the police bureau and covered a number of major stories, including the Imette St. Guillen murder, the NBA referee betting scandal, the Hudson River plane crash and the Christmas Day underwear bomber.

He then moved onto the news and rewrite desk, overseeing news coverage on weekend night for three years before being promoted to full-time editor in 2010.

Tom started his newspaper career in his hometown of New Hyde Park, LI, covering education, village politics and community life for the New Hyde Park Herald Courier and Williston Times, while slinging drinks on the side at a local catering hall.

Before that he spent six years in the Windy City, where he received his BA in Political Science and MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago.  He was, however, a Smashing Pumpkins fan long before that.

Tom lives in Jackson Heights.

FUN FACT: Tom used to want to be a drag racer. Now he doesn’t even drive.
