Man Randomly Punched in Face on R Train, NYPD Says

TIMES SQUARE — Police released an image of an attacker who they say punched a straphanger in an unprovoked attack aboard an R train Tuesday night.

The rider socked the 23-year-old man on a Queens-bound R train at the Times Square stop about 9:55 p.m., the NYPD said.

The victim suffered a bloody nose and swelling and was treated at the scene, according to police.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The attacker is about 25-to-35 years old, 5-foot-8 and 150-to-160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a dark baseball cap and a dark jacket and jeans.
