BROOKLYN — A man wanted for fatally shooting a 27-year-old woman outside East New York’s Pink Houses last month surrendered to police because he heard the NYPD “would treat him fairly,” law enforcement officials said.

Fred Coleman, 28, was charged with murder and criminal use of a firearm for fatally shooting Salaya Figueroa outside of Coleman's building at 1308 Loring Ave., near Eldert Lane, at 12:30 a.m. Nov. 30, the NYPD said.

Figueroa was wounded in the buttocks as she and her boyfriend tried to run for cover, police said.

She was taken to Brookdale Hospital but couldn’t be saved.

Coleman surrendered at the 75th Precinct with a pastor by his side, police said.

He was awaiting arraignment Thursday.

Police are still looking for another man in connection with the shooting.
