EAST FLATBUSH — A man who complimented a 23-year-old woman as she walked to the train later tried to rob her with a boxcutter inside the station, the victim told police.

The woman was walking on Parkside Avenue toward Nostrand Avenue just after 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 when she dropped her scarf, police said. The suspect, approximately 30 years old, picked it up and told her she was beautiful.

A few minutes later as the woman went inside the Winthrop Street subway station on Nostrand Avenue, the suspect approached her, threatened her with a boxcutter and said “give me your money,” police said.

The woman fled on a southbound 2 train and got away from the man without injury or loss of property. The man has not been identified or arrested.
