HARLEM — Two teens were held at gunpoint and one needed more than a dozen stitches after being slashed in the face during the attempted robbery, police said.

An 18-year-old and his friend were walking on East 128th Street near Third Avenue in East Harlem at 5 p.m. on Aug. 12 when five males surrounded them, police said.

The suspects demanded the two victims hand over money and “whatever else” they had, police said.

One of the suspects then pulled out a gun and started to go through the 18-year-old victim’s pockets, police said.

The other victim started to fight one of the suspects, police said.

That’s when another suspect came up from behind and slashed the victim in the face with a sharp object and the suspects began to assault both victims.

The victims sustained injuries to their foreheads and one of them received 15 stitches to the right side of his face.

The suspects fled, police said.

The victims were taken to Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx for treatment, police said.

There were no descriptions of the suspects immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
