Hit-and-Run Driver Critically Injures Man on Scooter in Crown Heights: NYPD

CROWN HEIGHTS — A man was hospitalized in critical condition over the weekend after a hit-and-run driver struck his motorized scooter on Nostrand Avenue, police said.

The 29-year-old victim was driving on the avenue near Lincoln Place around 8:35 p.m. Saturday when a dark Chrysler sedan hit the back of his scooter, knocking him to the ground, the NYPD said.

The driver of the sedan immediately sped away from the scene of the crash, which was caught on surveillance video released by the NYPD Sunday. The footage shows the car backing up away from the man lying in the street, then steering around him and driving away.

The victim was taken to King County Hospital in critical condition.
