WAKEFIELD — Police have arrested an ex-convict for the murder of a 55-year-old Bronx man, but his suspected accomplice remains at large.

Jonathan “Platinum” Jay, 32, was charged with the murder of Lionel Samuel, who was fatally shot on May 27, near 3970 Bronx Blvd., about 5:45 a.m., police said.

Jay has six prior convictions, including robbery, according to the NYPD and the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

Samuel was with a 54-year-old man in a 2007 Honda when they stopped at a red light and were both shot by two men traveling in a white car, according to police.

Samuel was hit in the torso, while his companion was hit in the leg and tried to drive them to the hospital, police said.

However, he crashed into a tree on the way, and Samuel was later pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center, according to the NYPD.

Jay has been arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide for the death, but Sheldon "Slim" Edmond, the other suspect, has not been caught and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
