CROWN HEIGHTS — A 30-year-old man was shot and killed on Franklin Avenue early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting near Union Street around 4 a.m. and found the man, Dion James of Crown Heights, with gunshot wounds to his back.

Emergency responders transported James to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

No suspects have yet been identified in the shooting and there are no arrests, police said.

The block where James was killed has seen multiple shootings in recent months. Last month at Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway — less than a block from Sunday’s shooting — police said a man fired two rounds around 3:40 p.m. on a Tuesday, then fled on foot. No one was injured.

In April, two men were hospitalized in a shooting in front of 1004 Union St., just west of Franklin Avenue. One of the victims, a 33-year-old, was treated for a gunshot wound to the foot; a 24-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the lower abdomen and legs.

Around the corner from that shooting, two teenagers were shot in the legs in an after-school gunfight on Franklin Avenue and President Street on March 10.
