Man Uses Cabbie's Card to Pay for Fare After Stealing His Wallet: NYPD

CROWN HEIGHTS — It was a fare-ly bold move.

A passenger looking to go to the local Crown Heights precinct stole the cabbie's wallet on the way, police said — and then used the driver’s own credit card to pay for the trip.

The 29-year-old cab driver told investigators he picked up the fare near Livingston Street and Flatbush Avenue in downtown Brooklyn roughly 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. The passenger asked to be taken to 421 Empire Blvd., the address of the 71st Precinct.

When the driver dropped the suspect off and drove away, he realized he was missing his wallet. Soon afterwards, he discovered the passenger had used one of his credit cards to pay for the trip to the precinct.

The robbery suspect has not been identified, police said.

It is unknown what kind of cab the driver was operating at the time of the robbery.
