FLUSHING — Police released surveillance video Tuesday showing a hit-and-run collision that killed a man in Queens.

Mariano Contreras, 41, from Corona, was killed after being hit by a car as he was crossing College Point Boulevard near Roosevelt Avenue at around 1:09 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The driver fled the scene in a 2014/2015 dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, heading north on College Point Boulevard, police said.

Contreras was walking across the street outside of any marked crosswalks when he was hit, according to the NYPD.

When police officers arrived on the scene, Contreras was lying unconscious in the right shoulder of the northbound lane, police said. He was taken to New York Hospital of Queens, where he was pronounced dead.
