WEST VILLAGE — A man punched the door of a city bus in the West Village on a Saturday morning, police said.

Police said the 59-year-old man, clad in pink shorts and green sneakers, punched the door of an MTA bus at West 12th Street and Eighth Avenue on Sept. 12 about 10 a.m.

The entire door shattered, police said, resulting in $1,000 worth of damage.

The incident was reported by the 36-year-old driver of the bus, police said.

The man was arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief, according to court records. He was released without bail and is due back in court on Sept. 25.

His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.

An MTA spokesman said the transit authority is "glad that NYPD was able to apprehend him."
