EAST ELMHURST — A man was arrested late Saturday after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint and then stabbing himself in the torso after letting her go, police said.

Jonathan Coronel, 21, approached his 18-year-old ex at 9:35 a.m. on Aug. 15 and forced her into a car at knifepoint, police said.

The woman had an order of protection against Coronel, who was also arrested in May for aggravated harassment against her, police said.

She was found 12 hours later on the corner of 82nd Street and Astoria Boulevard, and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Coronel, who had six prior arrests including the aggravated harassment, was found a few hours later on the corner of 88th Street and 24th Avenue after stabbing himself in the torso, according to the NYPD.

He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and was charged with rape, robbery, kidnapping, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful imprisonment and criminal contempt, police said.
