BROOKLYN — Seven people were hurt in a three car crash on the Brooklyn Bridge that overturned the car of one driver who may have been intoxicated Monday morning, police said.
That driver was taken into custody at the scene but was not immediately charged, an NYPD spokesman said.
The crash happened when a vehicle carrying four people stopped in the middle of the Brooklyn-bound span about 4:30 a.m., police said.
The Lexus rear-ended that vehicle and tried to drive around it, only to get hit by another car and flipped over, police said.
The Lexus' passenger was seriously injured, an NYPD spokesman said.
Six other people were also injured but not as severely, police said.
The seven people were treated at Bellevue, Lower Manhattan and Methodist hospitals, an FDNY spokesman said.
The bridge's Brooklyn-bound lanes were closed but reopened about 8:40 a.m., officials said.
