WILLIAMSBURG — If you haven't been counting the days yourself, here's a reminder that L train weekend service between Manhattan and Williamsburg returns Friday after a five-week hiatus — and just in time for Memorial Day.
The L train stopped running between the Eighth Avenue and Lorimer Street stop for five weekends in the last month as the MTA continued construction and maintenance work on the line.
The long shutdown spawned complaints and revenue loss for Williamsburg businesses and headaches for residents, including one who penned a song about the fury of no L train.
But the train is back to its regularly scheduled, 24-hour service this weekend.
Here's to hoping all the work will prevent the sudden weekday rush-hour stoppages that have been happening this year.
