SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — Independent radio is now streaming from the South Street Seaport.

Little Water Radio, created by a veteran of East Village Radio, launched Saturday from inside the Fulton Stall Market, on cobble-stoned Front Street.

“We thought this would be another cool way to engage the community, and use the space, which is really a neighborhood market,” said Stephen Dima, an organizer of the Fulton Stall Market, and a former DJ at East Village Radio, which shut down its longtime First Avenue storefront last year. “We're really excited about bringing this programming here — it's a lot of fun."

On weekends, the internet radio station is streaming live from inside the market — a collection of vendors selling gourmet food, farm-fresh produce and handmade crafts — but they will eventually be live daily, Dima said. Pre-recorded shows are now streaming Monday through Friday.

The station features live performances, along with interviews with musicians, comedians, chefs, artists, and local residents and business owners. When on-air, anyone can head into market to listen to a radio show or catch a live performance, for free.

Other longtime DJs from the East Village Radio, including Delphine Blue, will have their own shows at the Little Water Radio, Dima said.

"We're still growing and changing, but it's great," Dima said.

Little Water radio broadcasts live from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, from inside the market's 207 Front Street space. For more information, head to Little Water Radio's website.
