Friday, February 27
The Museum Of Mathematics Family Fridays are designed to bring kids and adults together to enjoy a diverse array of engaging mathematical activities. This evening, with help from the creators of ITSPHUN, a geometric construction toy, learn how to build the five “perfect” polyhedra and other highly symmetric, geometric objects that have fascinated humans for thousands of years. From 6:30 p.m. National Museum of Mathematics, 11 East 26th St., Midtown. Bookings required. $15.

Today is the final day of the New York Public Library’s “Becoming The Man in the White Suit: The Tom Wolfe Papers,” an exhibition featuring highlights from the archive of author, journalist, and cultural commentator Tom Wolfe. Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, McGraw Rotunda, Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street, Midtown. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Free.

What do Maurice Sendak, Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Rothko, Robert Rauschenberg and Georgia O'Keeffe have in common, apart from being inspired, creative artists? They are just a handful of some of the amazing artists to have studied or taught at the Art Students League of New York, an institution dedicated to sustaining the great tradition of training artists. Founded in 1875 by, and for, artists, the League has been instrumental in shaping America's legacy in the fine arts. Today, more than 2,500 students of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels, study at the League each month. Join them by perusing the class options here. Created by Guinness World Record Holder Fan Yan, The Gazillion Bubble Show uses high-tech lasers and lighting to produce a kid-friendly spectacle of bubble making. There are two performances today, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street, Times Square. $55 to $75.

A signature initiative of the New Museum, the Triennial is the only recurring international exhibition in New York City devoted to early-career artists from around the world. This third iteration of the Triennial is titled “Surround Audience” and is co-curated by New Museum Curator Lauren Cornell and artist Ryan Trecartin. Today at 1 p.m., catch the panel “Panel: On Being Surrounded” featuring New Museum Triennial artists Nadim Abbas, Josh Kline, and Daniel Steegmann Mangrané. $8. Monthly music club Classic Album Sundays allows the listener to fully immerse themselves in an iconic album by presenting the musical context, the story behind the album and an uninterrupted replay of the album on vinyl on an audiophile hi-fi sound system - no talking! For this month’s installment presenters Seze Devres from Kiss & Tell and DJ Ron Like Hell reexamine Depeche Mode’s 1990 album “Violator.” Preceded by the hit singles "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence," "Violator" was the band's first album to reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
