PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — A woman waiting for a bus on Flatbush Avenue Thursday was shot in the shoulder by a group of men who intended to shoot someone else, police said.

The woman was standing at the B41 bus stop on the east side of Flatbush between Hawthorne and Fenimore streets in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens at about 3:30 p.m. when she was hit in the left shoulder by a group who fired multiple shots in her direction, according officials at the 71st Precinct.

But police believe the woman, who was not identified, was not the intended target in the shooting. No suspects have been identified and there had been no arrests as of Friday, police said.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover, police and FDNY officials said.

The 71st Precinct has "absolutely" noticed an uptick in daylight shootings in the area in recent weeks, said Deputy Inspector George Fitzgibbon, the precinct's commanding officer, at a community meeting Thursday night.

In mid-November, a 15-year-old boy was shot at 2:30 p.m. at Albany Avenue and Maple Street. A few days later, a man shot into a dollar van at Lincoln Road and Flatbush Avenue at 4:15 p.m., injuring a passenger. This week, a man was critically injured by a gunman who shot him while he sat in his parked minivan at 4:30 p.m. Monday on Rogers Avenue near Clarkson Avenue.

Anyone with information about these shooting incidents is encouraged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
