CLAREMONT — A 19-year-old boy with a history of sexual abusing a teenage girl raped her inside an empty Bronx Preparatory Charter School classroom on Tuesday, police and prosecutors said.

The 15-year-old victim was alone in a classroom about 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 waiting to be tutored by a teacher when Kevin Simpson, a senior at the school, walked into the room, police said.

Simpson started to take off his pants, and the victim told him, “Nothing is going to happen. Stop,” the girl told prosecutors.

However, he approached her anyway, grabbed her arms and pulled her across the classroom to a corner, despite the victim saying “No! Stop!” the victim told authorities.

The teen tried to push him away during the attack, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim told a friend what had happened to her at about 1 p.m. and told a teacher and guidance counselor shortly afterward, police said.

Simpson was arrested the same day and charged with rape. Bronx prosecutors also charged him with sexual abuse based on about four earlier incidents at Bronx Prep Charter School where he forced his victim to perform oral sex on him, prosecutors said.

Simpson had been arrested on Jan. 9 this year as well, when the charges against him included felony assault and disorderly conduct, according to police.

He was arraigned on Nov. 19, where bail was set at $2,500 cash, and he is due back in court on Nov. 24.

The Department of Education referred questions to the NYPD. Simpson’s lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Alice Maggin, a spokeswoman for the school, said they immediately reported the alleged crime to police and have offered support and resources to the victim’s family.

The school has a policy of students not being allowed in the school unattended and is investigating why the students were not where they were supposed to be, she added.

“We are meeting with all our students throughout the day, explaining what happened and taking their questions,” she said. “At this point, the safety of our students is our urgent concern and trying to create normalcy in the building so they can continue to learn and grow as scholars.”
